About the Event

We invite Presidents, Chancellors, and Governmental/Federal Affairs leaders to join the Coalition of Urban Serving University’s first Advocacy Working Group. The goal of this meeting is to discuss and inform the urban university advocacy and legislative agenda. Jaclyn Shaw, Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Research Partnerships at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and James Williams, Director of Federal Affairs at Wayne State University, will lead this discussion.

Tentative Agenda:

Welcome (Taylor Eighmy/Ashlie Prioleau)

Hear history of USU Advocacy (President Wilson/Nancy Zimpher)

     - Purpose: Do we want to repeat this history or develop a new agenda?

Hear and discuss APLU Gov Affairs agenda (CGA APLU representative)

     - Purpose: Where do we intersect/ where do we not?

Develop the Urban Advocacy Agenda (Jaclyn and James)

     - Purpose: Identify USU’s steps moving forward. Do we want to consider our own effort with APLU, outside of APLU, or      a combination of both?
